The Spirit of the Game

Chess is the ultimate game of skill, strategy, and pure intellect. The integrity of every game is our highest priority. Our Fair Play Policy exists to protect our community and ensure that every victory is earned through genuine effort and talent. By playing on ChessTactics, you agree to uphold this spirit.

1. No Cheating of Any Kind

This is our most important rule. "Cheating" includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Engine Use: Using chess engines, bots, or any software that analyzes positions or suggests moves during a game.
  • External Assistance: Receiving help from another person or any external resource (books, databases, etc.) during a game.
  • Scripts and Automation: Using any form of script or tool to automate moves or gain an unfair advantage.

We use sophisticated algorithms to detect suspicious play. Violators will be dealt with severely.

2. One Account Per Person

Each player must only use one account. Using multiple accounts (also known as "smurfing") to manipulate ratings, enter lower-rated tournaments, or evade a ban is strictly prohibited.

3. No Rating Manipulation

Intentionally losing games ("sandbagging" or "dumping") to lower your rating is forbidden. This undermines the integrity of our rating system and tournament brackets. Always play to the best of your ability.

4. Good Sportsmanship

We expect all players to treat each other with respect. This includes:

  • Not "stalling" or letting your clock run down in a lost position. Resign gracefully.
  • No harassment, abuse, or offensive language in any chat features.
  • Not making false or repeated accusations against other players. Use the report function responsibly.

Consequences of Violating the Policy

We have a zero-tolerance approach to cheating. Depending on the severity and frequency of the violation, consequences may include:

  1. A first and final warning.
  2. Temporary suspension from playing on the site.
  3. Permanent account closure.
  4. Forfeiture of any prizes or winnings from tournaments.

Our decisions are final. We are committed to creating a trusted arena for skill-based competition.

How to Report a Player

If you suspect a player is violating our Fair Play Policy, please report them through their profile page or send a detailed report to our support team at contact@chesstactics.com with the subject line "Fair Play Report". Please include the game link and a description of your suspicion.
